Help for trades people gets the nod from the judges of the Big Ideas Competition
Entries in the inaugural BOP Big Ideas Competition had entrants vying for a prize package of $15,000 of professional services. One of the judges, Nicola Green from Sharp Tudhope Lawyers, said "the judge's selection process has been very difficult because of the very high calibre of entrants in the competition". There were 25 entrants in the initial written application stage which was then narrowed down to ten businesses competing in a ten minute pitch to the panel of judges.
After an extensive judging process local business owner Alan McQuarters has been selected as the first ever winner of the BOP Big Ideas competition. Alan owns Estimating Services Tauranga Limited and is in the process of launching a pricing software programme purpose built for builders and subcontractors.
The software is a simple yet powerful online tool that will enable builders to slash the time required to produce estimates and assist producing more accurate estimates. Alan said "It is a tremendous thrill to win the first BOP Big Ideas Competition. The advantages are not only validation of our new product, but in particular having five experts in different fields to consult, advise and assist moving forward".
